Together We Pray...
CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER - December 24, 2017
Together we pray . . .
Eternal and loving God, we come together this Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of Your son and our Lord and Savior. In this festive season we acknowledge that we have much to be thankful for. Many of the gifts we enjoy, we don't acknowledge. We give thanks for living in a land of peace and a nation of laws. While we give thanks for right to celebrate at Christmas -- equally, we give thanks for the freedom of those who, for whatever reason, do not celebrate.
Almighty God, we acknowledge that for many, Christmas, although a holy time, is also a season of pain and emotional anguish. For so many, Christmas is celebrated in poverty, ill health, loneliness or perhaps grieving over the loss of a loved one. For those who are celebrating with heavy hearts this Christmas, we pray that Your Holy Spirit will provide ease and comfort, compassion and strength, courage and fellowship.
Finally we pray that the peace and goodwill of Christmas will to extend to all of the world's nations. We pray for peace and good will , not only during this holy time, but throughout the coming year - and in years to come.
Through Christ we pray,
