Subject: Researchers at Harvard seek volunteers from your congregation
I am a graduate student at Harvard University, and I am writing in my capacity as the Lab Manager for Harvard's Digital Lab for the Social Sciences (DLABSS) to ask for your help.
We are hoping you might be willing to promote DLABSS among your congregation's parishioners, staff, and volunteers. We are continually looking to engage people of all walks of life so that our researchers can better understand all varieties of opinions. In particular, our lab is currently interested in the attitudes of faithful church-goers in America. That's why we are reaching out to pastors and parish administrators whose email addresses we could find online.
We hope you and your congregation will take the survey available here: dlabss.harvard.edu/religion . If you enjoy participating in that study, there are many more on our website as well.
As some additional background, DLABSS is an online laboratory of volunteers launched in 2014 to help researchers at Harvard locate respondents for their social science surveys. There are now over 11,000 volunteers that work with our lab, of all ages and education levels, scattered throughout the US and other countries.
In the process of taking surveys, volunteers have the option to sign up to receive a link biweekly for a new study that is part of academic work being done by a researcher at Harvard. Volunteers can choose each week whether they'd like to participate or not. All it takes is an email address to sign up, and in doing so, volunteers gain the opportunity to be part of interesting social science research. It is a stimulating experience with many intrinsic benefits, and our volunteers often find that they learn new information by taking part in studies. On the flip side, social science researchers at Harvard get the chance to get the opinions of a wide range of individuals.
We've attached a flyer, and we hope you'll print it and include it in a bulletin or post it in your church building. We would also be very grateful if you could forward this opportunity to your congregation's email list.
For a church member who has an email address, an interest in scientific research, and some spare time, DLABSS could be a fun and interesting way to broaden horizons, give back, and get involved with academic research.
If you have any questions or if additional information would be helpful, please feel free to contact me or to reach out to Professor Ryan Enos at email@example.com.
Thank you very much for your time!
All the best,
Lab Manager, DLABSS
