Community Prayer March 8, 2026
LORD Jesus, as we are growing up, some of us spend our times playing and learning all the lessons all kids need to learn. Many fewer kids decide early on what they want to be when they grow up, and then devote time and energy in developing themselves in that direction.
It seems more likely that when we ask Jesus into our hearts and lives is when we get serious about becoming the person God intends us to be. Perhaps this is because we grow in our awareness of all the guidance and direction available for us from our loving Father, and also that He has always had very specific plans for our lives.
No matter when this happens, Father, we give You thanks and praise that You are there, and most importantly, we need to be willing to receive everything You have for us. Like John the Baptist, we must accept the roles You have for us, and be willing to work hard in doing what we need to do to become the people You have planned for us to be. Thank You LORD! AMEN
• We pray for Pastor Nelson and Beth’s neighbor Bob Dietz as he recovers from a stroke at the INOVA Fairfax hospital.
• We pray for the family of Pastor Nelson’s friend Mike Staples who recently passed away after a short but intense battle with cancer.
• We pray for God’s peace to overcome as there are attacks on Iran and a number of other Middle East Countries, and also in Ecuador and Cuba; pray for • God’s provision and protection for all the people involved· We pray that our lawmakers may come to an effective agreement to end the partial shutdown of Homeland Security· Father God, we pray for Your blessings and grace to cover the people of Venezuela, and other countries also where living conditions are so difficult and dangerous
· Father God, bless and keep Larry with Your peace and healing
· our friend Shirley in Ottawa who is coping with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and we hold her husband Stewart and their children in our prayers as they do all that they can to provide assistance and support
· Pray for God’s grace to cover Angela Vallis who is recovering from carpal tunnel surgery, for her complete healing and restoration
· Pray for God’s healing for Joy as she successfully finished the first part of treatment for her spine that is mishappen and painful
· Father, watch over all those affected by the wildfires in Canada and California, and also those affected bythe smoke moving into other areas, that those who are fighting these f will have the wisdom and grace to respond to the problems and protect themselves and others who are affected and that there will be no loss of life or homes
· we hold Nelson’s dear friend Mike (in Montreal) in our prayers as he bravely continues with his course of Chemotherapy
· we pray for God’s provision for all the situations throughout the world where there are natural disasters
· pray for God’s justice and mercy to prevail as detention centers are being planned throughout the US to keep people being deported to other countries; conditions there are reportedly
· pray for God’s wisdom and understanding for all of the lawmakers involved in making the decisions relating to continuing to fund the federal government for the good of the country

Father, thank You that we are able to return to our regular activities with the addition of using the new Zoom technology to extend our ministry. We pray to be able to overcome any technical challenges to having services both in the sanctuary and via Zoom. We give You thanks and praise for all the ways we are able to show Your grace to our community

- pray for God’s peace and provision as the war between Hamas terrorists and Israel continues, leading to great suffering and lack of all the basic provisions needed, especially in the health care settings, and food, water, and shelter areas
- give our government representatives God’s wisdom and grace to learn how to work together to deal with the longer-term issue of appropriating money for the government in responsible ways
- Father, we bring You all those suffering painful conditions of any kind, including Teresa, Lillian, John, and Joy
