Worship

Worship at Culmore Church is informal, blending elements of traditional and contemporary music and preaching. Our messages and activities focus on increasing spiritual growth through discipleship and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Growth is realized through continuous expansion of our perceptions about God's nature.  Deeper, broader understanding enables an ever stronger relationship with God, increasing our awareness that Christian values must be woven into the fabric of our every day lives.  We are responsible for helping God realize the Kingdom in our time and place.

Culmore supports the following activities and practices:

Music Ministry

Dr. Wonhee Kang, our director of Music is a D. Min graduate from the Wesley Theological Seminary of the United Methodist Church.

She is an amazingly talented musician who creatively selects theme-specific music from The Faith We Sing, Word & Song, the United Methodist Hymnal as well as many other sources.

Our vocal chorus is highly committed to its craft and with occasional help of outside soloists, brings our ministry to life in the music.

Pastoral Ministry

Pastor Nelson and Pastor Elizabeth  are available to provide pastoral care and counselling in a myriad of situations. Whether it is spiritual counselling, prayer, visitation of the sick, helping out the vulnerable, or simply taking the time to listen; Pastor Beth or Pastor Nelson will make time and offer help consistent with the resources of the church.

Prayer Ministry

Our prayer ministry is led by Joy Savage. Joy expends works conscientiously to make certain that all in the congregation an in the broader community are remembered in prayer.  Culmore believes in intercessory prayer as an vital link which joins humanity and the Divine.  We believe that we are created in God's image and are fitted to be in relationship with God.  We believe that prayer is one factor that enables such a relationship.

Much prayer is intercessory but congregational prayer life also focuses on sharing our joys and blessings with God.  Joy's service as prayer ministry leader enables our prayer to remains at a foundational part of our our ministry.

Bible Study

Delving deeply into scripture in small groups and asking hard questions is an important part of Christian discipline.  Reading, discussing and discerning the significance of God's message in our own time and context gives life to the word.  our bible study group examines scripture, looks at what others have thought and explores how these can inform how we think and act. . Bible study takes place in downstairs conference room each Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:30 AM
